The Birmingham REP

I was resident director at the main producing house of the UK's second city between 2014 and 2015.

I directed two productions and assisted on five others - working with the likes of Sir Lenny Henry and Christopher Fairbank. I also worked with two community casts of actors, on large scale touring productions.

I managed, supported and led several writer research & development projects with many writers - Bryony Laverys ’The lovely Bones’ being particular highlight. I also had a key role in the REP’s artistic development programme ‘The Foundry’ - who nurture and develop new stories, new voices and new artists from the West Midlands. I provided dramaturgy, rehearsal direction, casting and production support to their 20+ developing artists such as; Amarah Spence, Paul O’Donnel and Stephanie Ridings.

I was a lead on the theatre's outreach project Home Theatre, where we created bespoke performances for communities in Erdington in their own front rooms, having matched up residents with a diverse rang of local theatre talent.

Reading new plays, submissions and drafts of commissions and writing reports for the team was part of my role and I acted as an ambassador for The REP at events and performances, always looking for new ways to improve and support the future programming and maintaining great relationships with colleagues, patrons and artists.
